Coachella Teases Documentary Film in Celebration of 20th Anniversary
The movie will premiere on YouTube Originals on March 31.
When the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival debuted at the Empire Polo Field in October of 1999, it not only changed festival culture in America, but it created a ripple effect that was felt all over the world. The 2020 incarnation will mark the 20-year anniversary of the festival—it took a hiatus in 2000 before coming back as a one-day show in 2001—and to celebrate the milestone, the Goldenvoice team will be releasing a major documentary via YouTube Originals on March 31.
Titled Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert, the film will include interviews and performances with some of the festival’s biggest and most transformational acts, including Billie Eilish, Kanye West, Daft Punk, Travis Scott, BLACKPINK, LCD Soundsystem, Rage Against The Machine, Pixies, Swedish House Mafia, Jane’s Addiction, Björk, The White Stripes, Madonna, Moby, Beck, Radiohead and more. It will be the first Coachella film sanctioned by the promoter since their self-titled 2006 documentary, directed by longtime Coachella videographer Drew Thomas.
